AstraZeneca

Who is AstraZeneca?

AstraZeneca is a global biopharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures, and markets medicines in various areas of healthcare, including cardiovascular, respiratory, inflammatory, oncology, and infectious diseases. It was founded in 1999 through the merger of the Swedish company Astra AB and the British Zeneca Group, with its headquarters in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

AstraZeneca gained significant attention during the COVID-19 pandemic by developing, in partnership with the University of Oxford, one of the earliest vaccines against the coronavirus. This vaccine, known as Vaxzevria (or Covishield in some countries), was widely distributed globally. Beyond its role in the pandemic, the company is recognized for its innovative treatments for cancer, respiratory diseases, and cardiovascular conditions.

AstraZeneca is also committed to scientific research, investing in new technologies and global collaborations to improve public health and drive forward medical advancements.
