Oslo’s Best 2 Hotels: Sommerro Hotel & Villa Incognito

Looking for the best hotel in Oslo? There’s the Sommerro & Villa Inkognito, sister hotels which are so different, but both exceptional in their own ways. As part of our Norway’s best hotels & Airbnb series, I’ll take you through my experience at these two great design hotels.

BOOK VIP MODE: Get perks you won’t get booking yourself. At 6,000+ hotels, we unlock free room upgrades, $50-$150 vouchers, early check-in, late check-out, and breakfast for two, and more. Email us at info@swankguide.com or check out: https://swankguide.com/

The Sommerro is a 231 room hotel that’s housed in an art deco gem, which is the former HQ of Oslo’s electric company. I don’t usually recommend large hotels, because they’re typically pretty soulless.. but that is not the case with the Sommerro. The owners have preserved the art deco bones of this building and added furnishings that are stylish and fit the art deco theme.

You have tons of eating options here starting with the more formal Japanese/Norwegian cuisine Tak Oslo that has 360 degree views of the city. Right below is Izakaya, think Japanese-inspired street food that I really enjoyed. Izakaya also doubles as one d Oslso’s hippest bars.

Of all the hotels I checked out in Oslo – I think this one’s in the best neighborhood… and while it’s not in the center of the action – Oslo’s small enough that you could walk about anywhere you’d want to go in the city in 15 minutes or so.

Villa Inkognito is connected to the Sommerro by a sky bridge and is housed in an 1870s classical mansion that was originally constructed as a private residence. There are only 11 rooms here; think sophisticated elegance is a wonderfully restored pice of history. Guests here get full access to the Sommerro next door.

There’s lots of room to spread out in Villa Inkognito. You’ll have access to two dining rooms, and they can arrange to have dinner brought in or a chef. Spread out in their beautiful living room, sun room or private bar, or the snug. If your wallet’s big enough u can rent out the whole place.

There’s two pools at the Sommerro, an indoor one in the basement and a small heated rooftop pool with cabanas, and of course, a sauna.
