Istanbul is not what I expected! Come with me as I share with you my FIRST IMPRESSIONS about Istanbul in 2025!
I just met my sister in Istanbul and I am SO HAPPY to be spending with her a few days discovering the city and sharing my first impressions about this beautiful city with you!
Istanbul is super walkable and most of the attractions are at a walking distance one from another, so in this vlog we have the following itinerary:
Fatih area
Galata Bridge
Galata Tower and adiacent streets
Galataport
Ortaköy Square and Mosque
Let me tell you more about each location:
Fatih Area: The Historic Heart of Istanbul
Fatih encompasses much of old Constantinople and is home to major landmarks like the Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque), Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, and the Grand Bazaar.
Galata Bridge: Crossroads of Two Worlds
It connects the historic peninsula (Fatih) with modern Beyoğlu, symbolically bridging old and new Istanbul.
Locals fish off the bridge daily, creating a lively and photogenic atmosphere.
The lower level of the bridge is lined with seafood restaurants and cafés offering views of the Golden Horn, ferries, and sunsets over the mosques.
Galata Tower & Adjacent Streets
Built by the Genoese in 1348, the tower offers one of the best panoramic views of the city and the Bosphorus.
Surrounding streets like Serdar-ı Ekrem and Galip Dede Caddesi are full of vintage shops, art galleries, street musicians, and beautiful old architecture.
Galataport, A Modern Seaside District
Galataport is a recently opened luxury cruise terminal and leisure complex with designer shops, gourmet dining, and art venues. This area of Istanbul offers some of the best uninterrupted views of the Bosphorus
Ortaköy Square & Mosque
The Ortaköy Mosque, right on the Bosphorus with the Bosphorus Bridge in the background, is one of the most photogenic spots in Istanbul.
The area is famous for kumpir (stuffed baked potatoes), waffles, and street vendors and it is a great place to eat and people-watch.
