Out here, it’s just a single sand track, a handful of campsites, and a vast, raw sense of isolation. Wildlife is scarcer, yes—but that’s exactly why it’s worth going. No crowds. No game drives. Just the wild Kalahari at its most untamed. To me, this is the deep CKGR: remote, elemental, and unforgettable. Nights bring distant lion calls. Elephants sometimes wander through camp. And when you’re this far out, surrounded by silence, the feeling is less about what you see and more about what you feel.

This isn’t about ticking boxes on a game-viewing list. It’s about experiencing one of the most remote wildernesses in southern Africa on its own terms—and realising that this is why you came to Botswana.
