Oeiras Screenplay – Piauí, the Capital of Faith

Welcome to the Nature Route! In today’s video we will meet some of the main itineraries of the city of Oeiras, in Piauí! It is in Oeiras that we have one of the most religious cities in the state, even gaining the title of capital of faith! The city is surrounded by large mansions and ancient churches, which present to this day various elements of old architectural currents. Oeiras is the headquarters of the oldest church in Piauí, the Mother Church of Our Lady of Vitória, built in 1733. At the extremes of the city, we also have two important visitation places. Like Morro da Cruz and Morro do Leme. At Morro da Cruz, we have a large cruise, which recently won a renovation and space for leisure and events. A large sign with the name of Oeiras was also added to the lookout, becoming one of the city’s main postcards. At Morro do Leme, we have as a highlight an image of Our Lady of Victory, patron saint of the city, which has 13 meters high. There is also a staircase of access to the top of the hill, where the saint’s image can be seen closely as well as a panoramic view of the entire city of Oeiras. The city of Oeiras is also the scene of great religious events, one of its main the procession of Fogaréu, a tradition that is already coming for 2 centuries being done in the city. The procession recalls the persecution of the Roman soldiers to Christ and is made only by men, who carry lit torches and travel 2 km from the city of Oeiras, the capital of faith. Next to the Church of Nossa Senhora da Vitória, we can learn a little about the history of the city by visiting the Museum of Sacred Art of Oeiras. The museum was created in 1983, and keeps the sacred collection belonging to the three main churches of the city, Our Lady of Vitória, Our Lady of Conception and Our Lady of the Rosary. The Sacred Art Museum has a collection of 500 pieces, with items in gold, silver, bronze and copper, as well as dishes and porcelain.
