The house of the most important painter of the 17th century is located near the Chinatown of Amsterdam and just behind the Red Light District, in the vicinity of Waterlooplein. Here between 1639 and 1659. The entire house has been redecorated with furniture, art and goods from those times, nothing is missing: his study, his rooms and his art. The house tells the story of Rembrandt as a person, artist, teacher, collector, businessman and citizen of Amsterdam. In 1998 a modern annex was built next to the Amsterdam Rembrandt house. Together these two buildings are today a museum of the life and work of Rembrandt.
