Tuvalu is a state of Polynesia formed by a group of nine islands and atolls, formerly called Islands Ellice. It has sea borders with Quiribáti, the North and the Northeast; with the New Zealau NeoZelas territory, to the east; with Samoa, the Southeast; with the French territory of Wallis and Futuna to the south; and with Fiji, also south. It is strategically located in southern Oceania. To the west the nearest neighbor is the Solomon Islands, but the distance between the two islands groups is considerable (about 900 kilometers).
