*A Tour of Hotel Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square | February 2025*
Join me for a visit to the *Hotel Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square*, located on 47th Street, in the heart of Midtown and Times Square in New York City.
First Impressions:
The hotel was *spotlessly clean and well-maintained* Its *prime location* makes it an excellent choice for visitors looking to stay near Times Square. One of the biggest surprises? The *bar and market are incredibly affordable*—a rarity in this area.
*Unbeatable Prices:*
– *Breakfast Special*: $7 for coffee and a croissant
– *Happy Hour (4–8 PM, Daily)*:
– Cocktails: $7–$8
– Wine: $6
– Draft beer: $7–$9
*The Downsides*
While my stay was pleasant, a couple of things stood out:
*Front Desk Hassles*
Despite completing check-in online (including ID submission for both Frank and me), we *had to redo everything at the hotel* adding an extra *10 minutes* to the process.
Check-out was even more frustrating—you *must* go to the front desk and wait in line. There’s no option to check out via TV or phone.
*The Dreaded Resort Fee*
The hotel charges a *$33 per night resort fee*, supposedly covering:
WiFi (which was *not fast*)
Onsite gym
Business center
Two bottles of water
The kicker? The in-room water bottles come with a *”WITH COMPLIMENTS”* note—yet, at $33 per night, it feels more like an *insult than a perk*. Effectively, I paid *$16.50 per bottle* of generic water. Pure greed.
Business Center Restrictions
The onsite business center is practically useless—while you can search on Google, many basic websites are blocked, making it impossible to open most links. Not exactly what you’d expect from a service you’re paying extra for.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a *clean, well-located hotel with shockingly good drink prices*, this might be a great option—*but be prepared for unnecessary fees and a slow check-in/check-out process*.
