What Nystatin Topical Powder is used for

Klayesta is used to treat superficial fungal skin and mucous membrane infections.

Specifically, it is indicated for cutaneous or mucocutaneous infections caused by *Candida albicans* and other susceptible *Candida* species. Please note that this medication should not be used for systemic, oral, intravaginal, or ophthalmic infections.

How it’s taken

Application:

  • General Use: For candidal lesions, adults and pediatric patients (neonates and older) should apply the powder two or three times daily until the infection has healed. The topical dusting powder is recommended for treating very moist lesions.
  • Foot Infections: For fungal infections of the feet caused by *Candida* species, the powder must be dusted on the feet themselves, as well as inside all footwear.

Warnings

Klayesta is contraindicated in patients who have a history of hypersensitivity (an allergic reaction) to any of the components in this medication.
