What Nystatin CREAM is used for
Nystatin Cream, USP is specifically indicated for the treatment of certain types of fungal infections (mycotic infections) of the skin (cutaneous) or the mucous membranes (mucocutaneous). These infections must be caused by *Candida albicans* or other susceptible species of *Candida*.
Important Note: This cream must only be applied topically. It is NOT approved for use in systemic (internal body) forms, orally, intravaginally, or ophthalmically.
How it’s taken
For both adults and pediatric patients (including neonates and older children), the cream should be applied liberally to the affected areas. It should be applied twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider, until the infection has completely healed.
Warnings
Do not use Nystatin cream if you have a history of being allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients in this medication.
Possible side effects
The rate of adverse events reported by patients using Nystatin cream is very low (less than 0.1%). However, common adverse reactions include:
