Here are the restaurants in Amman we went to and dishes we tried:
1. Hashem Restaurant Down Town – everyone knows about this affordable, old restaurant and that’s why you should not miss it either!
We ordered:
Falafel: around 1 JOD
Hummus: around 1 JOD
Arabic tea: around 0.25 JOD
Pickles on the house
2. Habibah Sweets – Downtown: so many people told me about this place (they have 2 locations) and almost every time a queue. To be honest, the first time we visited Amman we ate there because we saw that there were always people queuing.
I got a knafeh: around 0.75 JOD
3. Khashoka Abdoun – amazing decor and interior. The place is a bit “hidden” and you might need to search for it (the secret is to go down the stairs at the entrance)
What we had:
Chicken with white sauce: 6.1 JOD
Kufta with tomatoes: 4.3 JOD
French fries: 1.8 JOD
Cheese manakeesh on the house
4.Aristotle Cafe – a cute location in Jabal Al Lweibdehwhere people gather (especially at night) to play board games and smoke shisha
I had ine zhourat (chamomile tea): 3 JOD
5.Al Khal Restaurant – a hidden gem with affordable and delicious arabic dishes
I recommend the potatoes and egg sandwich: 1.25 JOD
6.Shahrazad Restaurant – hidden restaurant with unique vibes in the old town of Amman. We have this recommendation from a local.
We got:
Arayes: 1.15 JOD
Pickles platter included
