10 Day Family Trip to Costa Rica – Luck, Tamarind & J …

Pura Vida in Paradise – 10 Days Across Costa Rica

In early March 2025, we touched down in San José and kicked off an unforgettable 10-day adventure through the heart of Costa Rica. Our first stop: La Fortuna in Alajuela Province, where we spent three magical nights at El Silencio del Campo Hotel, nestled in the shadow of the mighty Arenal Volcano. From soaking in natural hot springs to braving the stunning—but not for the faint of heart—Mistico Hanging Bridges Park, every moment felt like a postcard. Bonus? A friendly local sloth chilling in a tree right outside our cabin (#11). Total vibe.

Next, we hit the road for a scenic 4.5-hour drive to the laid-back surf town of Tamarindo, located in Guanacaste Province. We stayed at the cozy and welcoming Casa Catalina Guest House, hosted by the incredible expat duo, Bob and Linda. Between the infinity-edge pool, rooftop deck, grill area, spectacular views and chill sunsets, it was pure bliss. Tamarindo’s beachside massages, surf lessons, and quirky architecture made it a perfect midway stop.

For our final stretch, we cruised down to Jaco Beach in Puntarenas Province—another 4.5-hour drive, with a quick detour at the famous Tarcoles Crocodile Bridge. In Jaco, we stayed at Diamante Del Sol, a beachfront condo with resort-style amenities and killer ocean views. Everything—from great restaurants to surf shops—was walking distance. One of the biggest highlights? Hanging with monkeys on a guided jungle tour that had us laughing for hours.

From volcanos to surf towns to jungle wildlife, Costa Rica stole our hearts. Highly recommend this trip for families, nature lovers, and anyone ready to experience the real meaning of Pura Vida.
