It serves as the administrative and economic center of the province, with a population primarily composed of Pashtuns, along with Tajik and Hazara minorities in surrounding areas. The local economy relies on agriculture, particularly wheat, fruits, and vegetables, supported by the region’s fertile land. While Maidan Shar has basic infrastructure such as schools, health clinics, and markets, development is still needed in many sectors. میدان شهر، مرکز میدان وردک است که از مرکزکابل در حدود ۳۵ کیلومتری جنوب غربی کابل در امتداد بزرگراه کابل-قندهار واقع شده است. این شهر به عنوان مرکز اداری و اقتصادی عمل میکند و جمعیت آن عمدتاً از پشتونها و اقلیتهای تاجیک و هزاره در مناطق اطراف تشکیل شده است. اقتصاد محلی به کشاورزی، به ویژه گندم، میوه و سبزیجات، متکی است که توسط زمینهای حاصلخیز منطقه پشتیبانی میشود. در حالی که میدان شهر دارای زیرساختهای اساسی مانند مدارس، کلینیکهای بهداشتی و بازارها است، توسعه در بسیاری از بخشها هنوز مورد نیاز است. این شهر منعکس کننده فرهنگ روستایی سنتی افغانستان است و به دلیل نزدیکی به کابل، از اهمیت استراتژیک برخوردار است و دارای محیط امنیتی مختلط و تلاشهای مداوم بشردوستانه و توسعهای است.
