The Wonderful Food of Bulgaria, Macedonia and Greece

Most of the food eaten during this trip through Macedonia, Bulgaria and Northern Greece can be referred to as “Mediterranean Cuisine” and other than different spellings in the three areas, can be eaten around the World. For example: Borek or Burek, a family of baked or fried filled pastries; Cevapi/cevapcici, a grilled type of kebab; gyros; ouzo and raki; dolmades (stuffed grape leaves and stuffed with meat or vegetables); “Greek” salad, Shopska salad (with white cheese), and so on.
A few other dishes were specific to an area: Tavce gravce and Turli tavs in Macedonia; and the beyond delicious Bougatsa made with Phyllo dough and filled with cream in Greece. Needless to say, we ate very well on a very small budget! Are you ready for seven minutes of food? Yum…
