AMAZON RAINFOREST | Tambopata National Reserve | Amazon Rainforest Peru

We recently returned from Tambopata Reserve in Peru – Puerto Maldonado where we spent an epic week in The Amazon Rainforest!

We stayed at the Monte Amazonico Lodge which is situated on the Tambopata River, and booked our guide through Carlos Expeditions.

We managed to do quite a few amazing Amazon Rainforest activities including Kayaking in Alligator infested waters, feeding Piranhas in Sandoval lake and Zip lining across the rainforest canopy … and of course, plenty of jungle trekking and spotting all the different animals in the Amazon rainforest.

We were lucky enough to have encounters with white caiman, black caiman, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, tarantulas, parrots and so many more!

We also heard about an animal shelter Tambopata, called the Amazon shelter where we volunteered and spent our time feeding and learning about different species of wildlife in the Amazon rainforest that had been rescued from hunting and the illegal wildlife trade. Most of these animals are rehabilitated and released back into the wild

Since returning to the UK from Peru, we have recently taken a trip up to Scotland where we hiked and wild camped The Rob Roy Way! If you haven’t seen the videos yet.. check them out on my channel – Drunk On Wanderlust
We can’t wait to head back up and Wild camp Scotland again, we are trying to decide on our next trail up there? Maybe the Fife coastal path?
