SAii Lagoon Maldives: Overwater Villa Tour – Playful Luxury …
Stepping into the SAii Lagoon Maldives Overwater Villa feels instantly bright and fun. It’s definitely got that Maldivian overwater magic, but with SAii’s unique playful twist. If you’re looking for a stylish base that’s super convenient (just 15 mins from the airport!) and has direct lagoon access, stick around for my detailed tour.
Hey everyone, I’m Benjamin Bryant – luxury travel advisor and Maldives specialist (you might know my work with Condé Nast Traveler). I get to see a lot of amazing villas (over 120 toured across 60+ islands!), so I was keen to experience the standard SAii Lagoon Maldives Overwater Villa firsthand and share my honest take with you.
Overwater Villa – My Personal Highlights:
* Good Space & Vibe: For a standard villa (it’s 84 sqm), it feels really spacious with the king bed and separate chill-out lounge area. Love the bright, colourful design touches – feels very SAii.
* Your Deck Over the Water: The private terrace is great – comfy loungers and that classic Maldivian hammock! Stepping right down into the lagoon for a swim whenever you want is unbeatable.
* Lovely Bathroom: Really nice en-suite here with twin sinks (always handy!), a good rainfall shower, and that essential sea-view bathtub. Feels quite spa-like.
* Tech & Comforts: All the expected bits are here – decent TV, good linens, air con, free Wi-Fi, coffee/tea maker, stocked minibar. Everything you need.
* Fun Little Extras: I liked the unique touches like the handcrafted puzzles and the option to pick your own scent for the bathroom amenities – adds a bit of personality.
Quick Look at SAii Lagoon & CROSSROADS: Remember, SAii Lagoon Maldives is really close to the airport (just a 15-min speedboat ride). It’s also part of CROSSROADS Maldives, giving you access to way more dining and shopping than most resorts. Good to know:
* Dining: Plenty of choice on-site (Miss Olive Oyl, Mr. Tomyam etc.) plus the options at the marina.
* Activities/Relaxing: There’s the Lèn Be Well Spa and the usual watersports/dive centre.
* Families Welcome: They have a kids’ club too, so it works for families even in these standard villas.
Just Being Honest – A Couple of Things:
* Resort Buzz vs. Seclusion: Being linked to CROSSROADS Maldives means more buzz and convenience, less of that super-remote, isolated island feel. Depends what you’re after!
* Neighbours: Like many Maldivian resorts, you’ll likely see neighbouring villas from your deck. Not an issue for most, but worth noting if total, utter privacy is paramount.
