The African American Heart Study aims to provide insights on the association between lipoprotein(a) and cardiovascular disease risk in African Americans, a population historically underrepresented in research. In partnership with the Association of Black Cardiologists and Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, the study aims to recruit 5,000 self-identified African American participants. The results may help researchers and clinicians better understand how genetics and proteins affect the development and progression of heart disease in African Americans.
