ATIVESITE | Heart Transplant Patient Grateful for a Second Chance

Richard Ashe had no heart issues whatsoever, so when he suffered a heart attack, he and his family were in shock. His heart function was so poor, that our doctors recommended him for a heart transplant.

Slowly but surely, Richard regained his strength following the transplant. He never gave up and relied on the tremendous support of his family.

Recently, he returned to the cardiac ICU at the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital to thank the health care workers who treated him as part of their family.
