
ATIVESITE | SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were established in 2015 by the United Nations as an action plan for people, the planet and prosperity. It is an action agenda until 2030, with 17 Objectives and 169 targets built on the legacy of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). The Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP) believes in strengthening the culture of environmental and social sustainability in the higher education sector and works to expand dialogue with society in the search for solutions to the complex challenge of facing serious global problems, such as hunger, climate change and inequality. In this video, we discuss SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Effective Institutions. The Prof. Maria Fernanda Tourinho Peres, from the Department of Preventive Medicine at FMUSP, talks about the impacts of violence in the health sector, including the homicide of young people, youth violence and police violence.
