ATIVESITE | Official FMUSP – The Future of Medical Physics Vision for the Future

What is the future of the career and professional in Medical Physics? Video made by the American Association of Medical Physics licensed by the USP Physics Institute to promote the career and course of Medical Physics. ► Special thanks to Saiful Huq from AAPM, for authorizing the use of the material and to Neilo Trindade for the subtitles in Portuguese. ► Special thanks to Saiful Huq from AAPM for authorizing the use of the material and to Neilo Trindade for the Portuguese subtitles. ===================== , we cannot stand still, as we never have. Todd Pawlicki: We as medical physicists need to determine what new directions we need to go in and that’s what’s driving medical physics 3.0 and that’s why it’s such an exciting project that APM is taking on. Sasa Mutic: The role of the medical physicist has changed over time, and our value has changed over time, and I think our field as a whole needs to catch up in understanding what our value is. Melissa Martin: I think we all need to step back occasionally and just ask that initial question, “what can we bring to the clinic that no one else can?” Robert Pizzutiello: It’s very helpful for medical physicists to make us known to other healthcare providers, this is our first job that we haven’t done so well yet. Daniel Boulard: I think our field needs to be broadened in our scope and what we are concerned about is what is hidden beneath physics and medicine. Adam Dicker: I think the medical physics community needs to recognize that there are people that they need to interact with that they may not have interacted with before. Tood Pawlicki: We will move in different directions to have a greater impact on healthcare. Sonja Dieterich: Starting to get into all these other areas of the hospital and just broadening what we do. Ehsan Samei: There are many things we can and should do that we have not had the ability, opportunity or desire to pursue. David Jordan: Let’s shine that light on what’s producing value in everything. Bruce Curran: We have to reinvent ourselves in what we do. Ehsan Samei: The culture of medicine is moving towards precision and personalization, these are areas where we can make unique contributions that no one else can. Bruce Curran: We have to be seen as partners in this knowledge, showing that we are leaders and can inspire other colleagues to do things. Daniel Boulard: To renew and remind us of who we are as medical physicists and also to expand our roles as medical physicists into other avenues of physics and medicine. Ehsan Samei: Medical Physics 3.0 is a definition of excellence in the future of medical physics. Amy Harisson: We will provide more efficient, more patient-focused, more targeted care. Ehsan Samei: We need to recognise, identify and cover all areas where physics can make an impactful contribution to help. Tood Pawlicki: Not that medical physics 3.0 will provide all the answers to where we need to go, but it will map out the landscape of what’s possible and challenge us as physicists to think differently. Robert Pizzutiello: The future of our profession to me looks bright. Sasa Mutic: the sky is the limit, there is nothing you can’t do. We learn from the past, but the future is defined by you. ————————————————– ——————————————— ► Follow the entire schedule free scientific and cultural research that the IF also promotes on Facebook and Twitter: • facebook.com/fisicaUSP • twitter.com/fisicaUSP
